    Show us your duckboat

I like it a lot! It's easy to put up and take down. This is the first blind that I have used, we've always just pulled into the weeds and sat in the boat. With this blind, we can float the larger water and still stay hidden. I regret not placing the pivot points farther apart, it would be...

    Show us your duckboat

My boat is a '59 Aerocraft, it is 12 ft long and weighs #105. It is powered by a 9.9 Merc with a 3 gal tank. The blind is from Flyway Specialties. Typically I hunt alone but I can squeeze a close friend in if I have to.

    Punt pole paddle shoe

Lou Tisch may have some information, he builds sculling boats, I'm not sure who builds his oars. Quite awhile back, I did a Branding Iron for a local guy that was doing punt paddles out of Hickory, he seemed pleased with them. Give me a call/email, I have info on a company that might be able to...

    Layout boat questions

I've hunted from one a number if times. Getting into from the chase boat was always "exciting". Sort of like dropping onto a skate board from a moving automobile or stepping onto slick ice. It's pretty light, so your weight has a dramatic effect on it's action when stepping in and out. I never...

Question for the Lake Erie Ohio guys

Just a few miles farther North and you're in God's country, Michigan! You could fish the Saginaw Bay. Fish Point Lodge has charters and they do have room. It's ....rustic, as in NOT the Holiday Inn. www.fishpointlodge.com

    New to duck hunting

There are some afflictions that are far cheaper! You might consider a gambling addiction, in the long run it's less expensive and you can park your car in the garage.

A special package was received today.

I received a special package today from Chuck J, it was Jarhead in his custom armored personnel carrier! After the season last year, I asked Chuck when Jarhead would be auctioned, I wanted to win the bid so I could gift it to my Brother and SIL. Chuck told me that Dave Diefenderfer had come up...

Where to find an used ______ boat?

Surf on over to your local craigslist and type in "duck" in the boat section, that should get you pointed in the right direction.

    Avery boat blind/ Grass mats

Have you considered using raffia grass? I have a Flyway Specialties blind with a windblocker/3D nylon camo. I added a netting over it and zip tied raffia grass to it. I went overboard on the camo, I guess I should have stepped back and looked more often. I could get the same look with about 1/3...

    Looking for Balsa Wood

Try National Balsa (www.nationalbalsa.com). I have a few block from them, it's nice stuff. A few of the guys here in SE Michigan use them.

    Marine Epoxies?

Neal: You may want to rethink using cabosil when gluing up your decoys. The cabosil/epoxy combination is so hard that you may have tear out along the body joint when you power grind because it's so brittle or you will have a noticable bulge where the softer wood has been taken down when trying...

    Hollowing decoys?

I'm not all that fastidious about it. I hollow to about 1/2" - 3/8" then run a bit around and clean up the obvious stuff. I have no intentions on seeing the inside of my decoys again, why spend too much time on it. This isn't quite done, I went in with my Foredom and took a lot more off the top...

NDR - Looking for info on concrete stamping

Well it's not stamped concrete, but I will say it has a more organic look and feel than plain cement. Good luck with your project.

NDR - Looking for info on concrete stamping

I know you were asking for stamped concrete, but have you considered exposed aggregate? I had it done when we replaced our patio. The idea is they use a fine aggregate, pour and float, then as the cement sets up, they spray glycol alcohol onto the surface. This prevents the surface from setting...

An attempt at cutting some wood...

Jon: Typically when you are cutting wood for carving, you would discard the heartwood. That is the very center of the log. That is where the most stress is when the log is drying. Your chances of getting a split or raidial crack are greater when heartwood is used.
