    18 ft Military boat

I had one for a number of years and ran it in and out f the merrmac river here on plum island. They are rugged and would make a great duck boat. They do have some racking to them when they hit rough water so you can stiffen upthe boat by installing a hard deck. I ran a 50 on mine plenty of power...

Anybody interested in a scull boat!!

Bill, if the person told you the builders name was that then it was built by Eddy England who built a bunch of Joppa floats in his boat house that you have driven by I'm sure a number of times. Eddy's shop is the old boat house that has the "no evacuation" sign on it on the way out to Plum...

    Alumacraft Ducker info???

Thanks for the history on the boat I never know that much about the builder. I have one that was my fathers. He brought it in the 60's for $150. The same day the gentleman had a dozen old wood decoys that he wanted to sell for $150. My father told me years later and said why would I want...

Question for you carvers.......re: draw knives

513 is a nice shape. If you can get that slight curve in the blade like that it will help you slice with the drawknive. The other very important thing is to get a blade that is flat that will allow you to slice. There are drawknives out there that are a flat blade and then rise up on the back...

    Jimmy Vizier

I'm very sorry to hear that Jimmy passed away and my condolences to the Vizier and Godin family. He was a ton of fun and I will always remember one night many years ago at a hotel bar in Ocean City there was a Cajun band that was playing and Jimmy got up and played the wash board for the band...

    Carving advise for a greenhorn

I use both. Lot of drawknives, spokeshaves on bodies. Grind in the head to remove some of the big stuff and then all knives to finish a head. The grinder will get some of the big stuff out of the way but you can do it all by hand. Hank

    Are Stanley spokeshaves ok?

the key is you want a LOW angle on the blade. One of the things that I have not seen on a Stanley one is a low blade angle. They could have made one but I'm not aware of it. Nates suggestion is a good one too. HHG
