Tom Pellis just sent me an email to tell me that Jimmy Vizier passed last night. If you never had the pleasure and honor of meeting him you really missed out. When I was first starting out in the carving world and diidn't know anything really I would sit down at a show with him and he would explain things like I was family. He didn't have to help but he always did. He was one of the famous Vizier family carvers of Louisianna, father in-law of Pat Godin, a retired Marine, Gunnery Sargeant I think, and a tug boat Captain. I thought everyone might like to know.

He will be missed and this is quite a loss for carving. Jimmy was the grandfather of the modern gunning decoy. My thoughts to his family.

Wow........Jimmy will be missed. I've enjoyed jawing with him at the old Livonia Show (North American Decoy Show) and enjoyed the banter between he and Bob Bolle. Jimmy's Pintail carving & painting book is about worn out with use.
I'm sad to hear of his passing & will keep he and his entire family in my prayers.
Lou

Its all about Building that Bond.

I'm very sorry to hear that Jimmy passed away and my condolences to the Vizier and Godin family. He was a ton of fun and I will always remember one night many years ago at a hotel bar in Ocean City there was a Cajun band that was playing and Jimmy got up and played the wash board for the band. He always loved life. He will be missed for sure. God Speed. Hank

Jimmy will be missed in the decoy world. He was a true gentleman, and a great decoy maker. He was alway very nice to me when I went to she shows in La. He was a true pleasure to be around. I will miss his stories and banter.... Pat and Jessica my thoughts are with you.
