    Close to launch

Ok, the way I saw it done was placing a spring clamp on the board at the deck line. It would accomplish similar. Rick

Interesting idea, I have not seen that done before. Rick

SJ. You could do that but the scimitar shape is to move the center of effort to the rear of the boat so you get a balanced helm. (at least that is what I have read) If the daggerboard were straight you could do add the pins. Rick Lathrop

    Historical Sneakbox Advertising

Thank you for posting, I checked and Google Maps shows a house at each of the Van Duyne and Perrine addresses. It looks like Van Duyne and Perrine built boats in the backyard.

    Newest boat pick up/winter project

Jode, I have a planing hull sneakbox that someone did the same tapering of planks. I have done similar when cross planking the bottom of a garvey to tighten the bottom planking. Rick

Steve, Unfortunately you can’t adjust the depth on the scimitar board. I was going to use a spring clamp to hold board up when not in use. Guy I knew with a 12’ melonseed did same and it worked. Rick

    Newest boat pick up/winter project

Sweet looking vessel. Someone took the time to add flourishes for the stool racks. Looks like the deck planking is tongue and grooved plus tapered into place. Rick

    Close to launch

I spent the day trying to get the boat ready for launch. Seems like a bunch of small things kept popping up. I finished making the turnbuttons and fitting the painted floorboards. After that it was rigging the sail and testing the set up. I moved the boat outside of shop so the boat has seen...

Sneakboxs I’ve owned or still own

Did Mark build from a specific plan or make his own? Sailing garveys are rare these days. There is one in the new issue of WoodenBoat. Rick

    BBSB Pond Box Build

SJ, Brass turnbuttons made from half oval stock. I stole idea from a catboat. Steve, There doesn’t seem to be much written about gunning boxes. Chapelle has drawings for one in the Ranger plans. Using the fix seat rowing measurement guidelines from Angus boats I made up a 5” box to get to...

    BBSB Pond Box Build

Steven, My work will not be at your level but I copied your turnbuttons. I initially used some oak half round but didn't like the feeling when sitting on them so I ordered some brass half oval from OnlineMetals and I made brass turnbuttons. Rick Lathrop
