    Epoxy Shelf Life Questions

All, Started a Devlin Cackler build in 2015 but stopped working on it right after flipping. Our U.S. Composites Epoxy has been sitting in a dark, unheated/uncooled detached garage in North Alabama, so it gets fairly warm. I was getting ready to sheath this Sunday and decided to check the U.S...

I lost a good friend today. duckboats.net lost a good friend today

Eric, I am very sorry to hear this. He was a great guy. I know I certainly enjoyed hunting with him and talking boat building and other hobbies and will miss him. Thoughts and prayers. -Bill

    orbital sander

For knocking the big stuff off (like the edges of the glass tape), I still like my harbor freight 7" (7-1/2"?)polisher with hard back 60 grit sanding disks. The polisher lets you get the rpms down to a manageable level. You can even shape wood with it. Bill

    orbital sander

I used a 6" Harbor Freight pneumatic on my BB2, no problem. 60 or 80 grit. Believe the final sanding was with 120 grit before painting. Destroyed electric Ryobi and Porter Cable orbitals over the course of 2 boat builds. Jury is still out, but the pneumatic still seems tight. -Bill

Time for change? (Terribly long winded)

Eric, Understand the frustration- North Alabama is not an easy place to be a duck hunter. I got out once this season, and there were no ducks that day. Makes it a challenge just to keep the boat engines from gumming up with bad gas. Decided to go ahead and join the Madison Sports Shooting...

    Question for the reloaders

Clinton, Been a while since I reloaded steel, but have shot many boxes of handloads in years past. One place to start is online at Alliant's recipes under their steel shot loads that use their "Steel" powder. #7 steel shot is available on the market. Believe 4756 powder and some others can...

Heaviest motor to man handle on hunt.

The now not available for sale in the U.S. Yamaha 15hp 2-stroke is supposed to be 79 lbs. Peppy little engine for the weight, and reliable as can be.

    Priming / Painting Foamers

I have about 5 -6 doz foamers with landscape burlap and tile mastic that have held up well. Painted with oil based Kiltz primer and then rustoleum and/or FME for color. Did about 6 foamers with latex based Kiltz primer and had problems with the enamel paint cracking when it dried. Still...

    Cheap Storage (Pics)

Eric, Great use for those. I was doing some research on refinishing guns, and one of the recommended solutions to heating the components was to insulate a 1/2 size locker and turn it into a parts heater! P.S. And if you run out of stuff to organize, my garage could use some work!

    Small battery for duckboat?

I used to use a lawnmower battery from Walmart to power the lights/gps on my Broadbill. They seemed to need replaced every season, so I bought a much more expensive deep cycle wheelchair battery the same size from Battery plus- it has lasted over 5 years in the BB2 doing the same duty and thus...

Converting triggers from Inertia to Mechanical

Not sure why they are set up for inertia, but a lot of o/u 's used for target shooting have to have the triggers reworked when they get fitted for sub-gauge tubes. Not firing the second shot in skeet can be real aggravating. v/r Bill

    anchor weight mold

http://www.hiltsmolds.com/DecoyAnchorMolds.htm Rich, I use the 12 oz from the Hilts mushroom mold for goose and super magnum G&H duck. It sounds a lot like what you describe as it is round on bottom. However, it is flat across the top of the "mushroom head" and is poured from the top...

    2001 25 HP Outboard Help

What brand? My Yamaha's have a long nut that holds the two ends of the shifter linkage together. It is located on the forward side of the tail shaft, between the foot and power head, and you have to separate them to drop the lower. On reassembly, it has to be properly adjusted so the shifter...
