Converting triggers from Inertia to Mechanical

Hi:
I brought my Beretta 687 in for an overhaul. It had been at least 10yrs and it had become a single shot. The smith opened it up and said that the lube had just dried out. He then told me that he switched the triggers from inertia to mechanical. That means that no matter what, both triggers go bang. Empty 1st barrel click, second barrel bang. Same with a dud in the first barrel. Why are all guns not set up this way. Especially field guns. Seems like a better system. When you put your gun away , put your snap caps in and pull trigger twice. gun goes click both times.
Opinions? Pros, Cons?

Hope the smith that serviced your gun was a beretta guy. Grease does dry out and must be cleaned. A little maintance always helps. Only problem with inerta triggers is if the selected barrel doesn't fire, the other barrel won't fire.
As for which is better, I have shot both and really don't have a favorite.

My Beretta 686 has inertia triggers. Never had an issue. If I did and had my wits about me all that is needed is to switch the barrel selector. General the mechanical triggers are preferred of the skeet of sporting clay field but at my level of shooting if I have a misfire, I address the issue and call pull again.
My 13 year old son has taken over my 686 so that he is not under gunned for geese or sea duck. Because of that I installed an adjustable pull Gracoil. Even with the recoil absorber no issues with the trigger swapping between shoot.

Not sure why they are set up for inertia, but a lot of o/u 's used for target shooting have to have the triggers reworked when they get fitted for sub-gauge tubes. Not firing the second shot in skeet can be real aggravating.

I have three Beretta Onyx 31/2" chamber O/U's and all three have had the same problem with the top barrel not firing after firing the bottom. I sent to Beretta twice after twice to the supposed top gunsmith in our area. Every time within a box of shells the problem returned. Suspect why they don't sell in this country anymore.

One of my patients is a gunsmith and he has fixed all three with mechanical triggers. Without him my guns would have been worthless x as single shots. They are my favorite waterfowl guns and he is my favorite friend.
