    Marine Starter Battery Size

Yep, that'll do it. I had a car battery get extremely low one time. The only indication was that it started to smell like chicken frying - seriously! Found out from someone that it's an indication that your battery is almost cooked and you better do something about it ASAP.

    Aquaseal

I've never actually timed it. I usually know in advance if I'm going to need it so I take it out of the freezer at least several hours before hand. Of course it depends on the ambient temperature. I've also put the tube in warm water to speed up the thawing process.

    Aquaseal

Aquaseal is #1 IMHO. I always have some on hand and have never had it fail. When you are done with your repairs put the tube in the freezer and it will last years. I have no reason to try anything else. I've never used 4200 but I always have 5200 (keep that in the freezer too) around for...

Trying to locate small family ran company I purchased mainline decoy sets from first name ?Bill?

Was it Bob Metrich from Decoy Rigs out of Whiting Indiana? Bob is a great guy to deal with but doesn't have a web site - you need to call him. Decoy Rigs P.O. Box 366, Whiting, Indiana 46394 (219-659-8371)

"Transom Saver" on a sneakbox rig

Ditto, I've never owned a transom saver and never had a problem with either the transoms or the motors. I trailer my big boat with the metal bracket locked down by the tilt/trim. On my BB3 or Jon boat the motor is either all the way down if I have enough road clearance or on half tilt with a...

Divers flaring on me in my new layout boat

Are the birds seriously flaring or just coming around for a 'look see' and find out they really aren't interested after all? Especially with pressured birds, they may be reluctant to fully commit. I'm of the opinion that the only thing the really flares divers is unnatural movement in either...

    Facemask and glasses

Until my cataract surgery this summer I've worn glasses for 60 years. The key to wearing a tight mask is don't cover your nose. Just bring your mask up to the bottom of your nose. Put some camo paint like Hunters Specialties or similar on your nose if you feel you need it but I only use the...

1997 Johnson 9.9 Firing on one cylinder

Ditto, Rich beat me to it. Sounds like a bad coil to me. If you have it in a barrel and can run it at night with the cowling off you might see the coil arcing.

    Filled a limit today

Haha, I hear you Dave. Prior to two cataract surgeries in June and Sept I wouldn't have seen the difference either. Now I have between 20/15 and 20/10 and it's fantastic. Maybe I'll get the .22 out again.

    Filled a limit today

I've never shot a .17 but wanted to. I always did well with a Nylon 66 and open sights.

    Filled a limit today

Seriously though, good job. I haven't had a mess of fried squirrel in ages. When I was in high school my brother and I were death on the local squirrel population and had our own competition - .22s only and only head shots counted. When we got enough together for the family (6 kids) my Mom...

DHBP Gathering, 20 Years in the Making

Pretty cool Carl. The DHBP and MLB gatherings gave been a highlight of the past 20 years. Here's a pic of the first one I ever went to. Not sure of the date but I believe it's Oct 1999 on Pool 9, Mississippi River. Back row: me, Steve Sutton, Mark Rongers, ? maybe John Rongers, Tom Reder...

    Just some pictures

Morning Al, Maybe Rich is asking "what lens do you use for balloons?" As far as cost to ride, my wife and I did a sunrise ride + Champagne brunch over Napa Valley back in '92 I think. Seems to me it was about $100 per person. Yes, a lot of money but really a once in a lifetime event. Pretty...

    Ugh, another full moon

Hi Al, I'm trying to get out once in a while. I've been doing some bow hunting and even took my second turkey with a long bow this fall. Just returned from a very nice two day hunt with Phil and Otter on one of my favorite places on this earth - Pool 9. He's got quite a pup and I'm looking...

    Ugh, another full moon

Hi Al, Good to see you on here. Just thinking the other day that I haven't seen much of you lately. Miss your pics. Thanks for sharing your hunt. It's nice when the plan works. Pete

    Chesapeake's and Cans

With 10 doz total that's probably enough GE. When I target them I like 3 doz split into two groups plus an equal number of other diver dekes. I'll see what kind of cookies I have time for.

    Chesapeake's and Cans

That was awful nice of Jim. You have enough GE decoys or should I bring some? What kind of cookies does Otter prefer?

    Chesapeake's and Cans

Phil, More often than not, GEs will only commit when you have GE decoys deployed. Particularly if they are in a flock. Singles or pairs may come in to any diver decoys cause they just want company but not flocks. They are a unique bird in a lot of ways and have become my favorite of all...
