    Duck cleaning

I would appreciate any information/experience anyone might have regarding motorized duck pluckers. Good, bad, etc. Also, does anyone have experience with the hitch breaster? Looking to possibly improve efficiency over paraffin and scissors. Thank you,

    Bonus

Back from annual weekend trout fishing in PA. Had a bonus find of chanterelles on second day. Fried goose summer sausage sliders for lunch. Good water levels with great dry fly fishing. Thunderstorm second afternoon didn't hurt fishing but blocked our exit from the mountain. Always have a saw...

    The Past

Although not directly waterfowl related, and since not during season, I thought I would share my Saturday experience. Hope some find it interesting especially since a lot of the history pertains to the northeast and upper midwest. My patient is an avid relics finder and collector. This is just...

    Al

I received a reply to my last text to Al Hanson that he has unfortunately passed. Quite a shock since earlier in the week he seemed to be doing okay. Although I never met Al in person, we got to know each other quite well and kept in touch on a weekly basis probably at least the last 10 years. I...

    Age of banded duck/goose

Curious as to the oldest banded birds you have shot? On Friday afternoon I shot a 4 year old Canada from James Bay area. Then Saturday morning shot a 16 yo (possibly older) Canada from same area. Figured that bird had probably flown about 20,000 mi. Bitter sweet.

    Decoy help

I know this is a long shot but I got this decoy from a friend who bought it for $5 at antique store in Hudson, Ohio. Normally I wouldn't pursue it, but to me it seems old and was used for hunting. I appreciate if any one had any input as to origin. I'm assuming used on Lake Erie? Thank you and...

    First weekend

My 9 mo. pup hunted teal earlier and this was his first weekend of regular season. Second day my friend brought Gunner's sister and we hunted both. It was her first duck hunt ever. It was probably the most fulfilling hunt I've had. Watching both play, hunt, and honor each other was priceless. No...

    Cormorants

I sent these to Al and I was interested in knowing the reason we are not trying to reduce these birds. I've heard a "treaty with Japan" but Have no idea if that has any merit. As you can see, they have destroyed what used to be a peninsula that protected the marsh from erosion. Soon it will all...
