July 2025 What's on your workbench?

Built this small griddle set up for my mother. Frame is PT 2x4, siding was cedar fencing, and the top was 5/4 cedar deck boards trimmed, planed and glue and pocket screwed into panels. If I did it again I'd select and cut the siding so that they are continuous across the front. Lesson learned.

    May Workbench

I've been really lucky the last month has alternated 2-3 days of rain to 2-3 days of sunshine. I haven't had to water them at all, just have to keep my lab from marking all of them. He thinks I planted all of them just for him to pee on!

    May Workbench

Decoys took a back seat for a while, my neighbor was putting in a pool and asked it I wanted any fill. Having some pretty out of level sections of yard I said I'd take all of it. Got about 30 tons of very nice topsoil, very little stone and clay. Paid the excavator $100 cash to spread it out...

Quick question on sealing black cork

Never thought of using titebond as a sealer. I planned on brushing with titebond and coating with ground walnut shells for texture after sealing. Have you personally used titebond III for sealing black cork?

Quick question on sealing black cork

I'm working on a spread of black cork ducks. I know from reading many threads over the years that thinned spar varnish is the preferred method of sealing. I seem remember someone saying they dunk the decoy in a bucket of thinned spar varnish until the bubbles stop coming out. My Question is...

    12v Car Fridge/Freezer?

Most people running these for camping have a second battery(deep cycle) with a charge controller. While driving the engine charges the second battery and when the car is off it automatically disconnects from the starter battery and runs off the secondary battery. If you partner with a decent...

    April workbench

After 5 years of saying I was going to, I finally picked up a riser block for my bandsaw. I have a Ridgid saw, and they don't make a riser block, but after searching the internet I discovered the Grizzly kit fit my saw. Install was fairly easy and I think it runs better now then before...
