    18 ft Military boat

Joe, Did you only notice it in the rough chop? The motor height looks ok to me. In rougher water I have noticed my boat will seem like the motor is not deep enough also and it seems like it hesitates. I wouldn't start replacing a bunch of stuff just yet. Start small and cheap

Boat Blinds(Worth making your own or Buying one?)

Not very easy. also it will be nice to be protected from spray as the helm is very far forward. I think I am going to make a bow cover that will stay attached all duck season and then hot glue velcro covers where I need to access spot lights and whatever else I need

Boat Blinds(Worth making your own or Buying one?)

I was thinking of going with a similar design. I think I will have a back with roof and a shorter front section with both sections attaching to crossbars. 1 in the front and one in the back. whats you thoughts a heavy duty tarp with some camo netting attached to it. It would be weather proof...

Boat Blinds(Worth making your own or Buying one?)

Great tips. The problem I am having is I want a roof and also need a front cover so I guess it will be like a scissor blind but will go up higher in the back and shorter in the front. we get birds that come in at eye level but also get a lot trying to sneak in low. Next problem closed bow...

Steel Flex on bottom of alum boat

Works great it does have a tendency to sag though. I coated a 14' boat I redid last year and it held up to some pretty hard abuse.

    duck boat blind

Jim, I would love to have a Bankes or wrangler boat but I have too many hobbies to spend that much money! The boat is a really good fit for hunting the shores of lake erie. The blind is not going to be that bad to build. The hardest part is going to be making the frame and that shouldn't be...

    duck boat blind

I think I get the picture...almost like a plate to mount bow rail or hand rails into. I could live with those staying on the boat all year. I figured you had rounded the edges on the crossmembers. I think your setup is an easier configuration for me to follow and will work out great for my boat...

    duck boat blind

That looks like a great setup. I have a question, how did you mount the uprights to the boat. Also did you have issues with the conduit tearing when you flattened it out and did you protect the flat edges of it with anything? Thanks hope you don't mind if I borrow your design

    duck boat blind

Hello ohioan Can you send me the pics of your boat anyway. I think I get the idea of what your talking about. Just not sure how to go about it on my boat. Also what material did you use for the frame I think I will use a local amish guy that has good reviews

    duck boat blind

I am looking for ideas for a removable/trailerable duck boat blind. This is my latest project it is a 18' crestliner. I have 10' long by 6' deck space that I would like the blind to cover and I will use covers for the motor and the windshield/bow area. I have tried the scissor type blinds with...

    2010-2011 season

Wondering how every one else did on ducks and geese this year, it was a tough year for some of us up here. In Ohio ducks came down late and the geese are still coming. Thanks

    New gun selection

Mike, I have never shot anything smaller than 3in for waterfowl. Maybe its time I give it a try and save some money. Still think I will use 3.5 on geese late in the year though(to stubborn to change everything) I do like the close shots but late in the year up here the geese like to land on the...

    New gun selection

I am sure it is a failed part somewhere in the loading mechanism. I am by far no gun smith, but I have thought about replacing the whole trigger assembly because I do love the gun it shoots great for me. I did not like the stoeger o/u because of the stockyness of them. I have been tempted...

    New gun selection

Someone else recommended the same thing. I bought the remington when it was a newer model and loved it. I like to shoot 3 1/2 shells for geese as they can be tough birds in ohio late in the year. I hate to buy anything else but im tired of jam ups and pieces breaking off my gun. I think...

    New gun selection

I am having issues with my Remington 1187 Super Mag. In the last 2 years the barrel has broken and I have had little pieces fail while hunting or break off. I am looking to replace the gun with something newer(this gun is 9 or 10 yrs. old). Anyone have any reports on the new versa max or the...
