    Puppy Pic

Beautiful pups. I still remember the day we were selected by our Siberian Husky, Stormy. She is now 13, and is still the best dog I ever had. You will have many happy years ahead of you.

    Chelsea's Workout

Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching my brother's chocolate lab, Chelsea, work out. I took my camera and captured her at work. For many of you this is routine, but as an observer it was not. Before we even got to the water, her anticipation was building. Once there, she eagerly obeyed...

    First Cork Can Decoys

Thanks for the suggestion. Given that I do not have a bottom board on my decoys, do you still recommend a dowel pin versus a deck screw, as some have suggested? A deck screw with washer is easier, but is it as sturdy when finished?

    First Cork Can Decoys

Thanks for the advice. The heads are not glued yet (just sitting in place), so I can drill a pilot hole, thne use a deck screw and washer. -Kathleen

    First Cork Can Decoys

I'm is the midst of my first six working decoys made of cork, with basswood heads. There is still a lot of work to do, but here's where I'm at so far. They still need a final sanding, sealing, then to officially attach the heads before painting. I saw the link recommending using an epoxy. Should...

    Painting demos August 7th...

I'm not sure what I've got going on that weekend, but I may try to stop by. Being new to duck decoys, I'd love the opportunity to talk with someone so experienced and with such a great last name! -Kathleen

    Painting hens...

Those are great looking decoys and a really good tip on the brushes. I used a fan brush on my canvasback, but that wound not work well on the hens.

    Basswood decoys

Is it possible to hollow out after it's carved? Say from the bottom......I'm not a carver, so this may be a stupid question.

    Basswood decoys

I've painted a couple decoys now made of basswood. They float well, but they do not self right becuase of being top-heavy. If I add more weight to the keel they won't float right. Has anyone else had this issue and is there anything that can be done to correct it?

Impressive shooting....especially on the humming birds. It's not easy catching a shot of them, as they are so quick. I know; I've tried.
