    What kind of Sneakbox?

It is an Aero Marine, great boats. Just check the balsa core for rot. How is my Higbee doing?

    Honda vs Yamaha

In my own experience they are both great motors, and Honda motors are seen in many commercial applications. The only downside I have seen is getting parts for the Honda motors, there are a lot more Yamaha dealers then Honda dealers.

    Much better

I have not been on the site in awhile, happy to see the photo posting has been streamlined finally. Posting from my IPad was a nightmare before, definitely going to be more involved now. Figured I would post a memory from last season, which was one of my pups first retrieves.

South Bay gets a Dodger - and a few other things

Very nice Steve, been awhile since I have see stool rack flaps on a southbay. My 1995 had them as well as a dodger, but was too deep and narrow of an opening to gun out of. Zane- The southbay is a rough water boat that sheets the water off just by the design of its crowned decks, I've...

    Double Barrels for Ducks

Here is my Ithaca Flues 12ga sXs that I picked up a couple of years ago, and took it out for a hunt in the Great South Bay here on LI. Was rewarded with a limit of mallards and a Brant on a cold calm afternoon hunt. Was shooting an old box of Bismuth, and was happy with the results.

    ON THE FALLING TIDE

    Great South Bay Ice Scooter

Ok I dug up one picture of the ice scooter my dad saved from getting cut up, it came with a full sail rig and the boat had no rot. It has runners and copper sheathing on the chines. Great piece of history that we would love to see go to a good home. Looking for a whaleback type myself.

    Great South Bay Ice Scooter

Next time you back up on Long Island, my dad has another Iceboat in his possession with full sail rig that you can check out. I will try to post pictures but it is hard for me on my IPad on the website. We have always tried to meet up in the past.

    Great South Bay Ice Scooter

I would love to be able of hook my way out to an ice hole late in the season for a hunt, could be a great demonstration of how they were meant to be used.

    Great South Bay Ice Scooter

I was fortunate enough to hunt with Mr. Watts many times when I was growing up, he was a friend of my dads and they gunned together for many years. He was a tough old guy that I learned a lot from when it came to scooter shooting, and always stressed the light grey almost white color of the...

First Hunt of the New Year - Great South Bay

Great hunt! Hunting has been excellent these past few days with the marshs frozen. That spot is perfect for those conditions.

A Pattersquash Hunt - lots of photos

Very cool, the bay looks pristine out east. Scratching out a few birds here to the west, and there are good numbers of teal so I am happy with that.

Contemporary Decoy Exhibition - Long Island - 27 February 2016

Very excited for this! I will definetly carve a gunner or two, and I can actually make it to the show this year. It is usually the same weekend of my store opening. I remember going to the National shows when I was very young when my dad would enter his birds.

    Opening Day Hesitations .....

My area is pretty crowded at times, but I just get way back away from everyone where no one wants to bust their butts to go. Most guys will go to easy spots right off a channal, especially guys with bigger boats that cannot get into the remote areas.

    Opening Day Hesitations .....

I am also a younger water fowler (26yrs old) but was blessed to hunt and be taught how to hunt by old timers. Because of this I am a pretty old school style of duckhunter, I shoot out of small grass boats, push pole into spots, tow my rig across the bay, thatch my boat, etc. I am pretty low...

    Thought on Opening Day.

As a fellow avid hunter from the southshore I can say that opening day is not as crazy as you think, a lot of guys are deer hunting that weekend. Christmas week seems to always be the busiest in my area. There will be a rising tide all morning on the opener in my area so I will just to a...

    Duckboat Show

Stopped by quick in the morning with my sneakbox in the back of my truck to meet its new owner. Bought some decoy heads and a faulks pintail whistle. This is my favorite show because the amount of good priced gunning decoys that are available, as well as seeing familiar faces. Rick Borns...

How many hunters is too many?

3, I can't stand hunting with a group and all shooting at the same bird.

Coating E Allen Brant with epoxy + sawdust

Always like mine up wind of my black rig, they bring attention with their while butts bobbing and puddlers will follow them often for the shrimp and other goodies they kick up. Still my favorite Brant decoy.
