    Rigging decoys on a net

I just hunted with a guy in NC with his decoys rigged this way. It was the first time I'd seen it, but apparently it's fairly common down there. It worked pretty well for his hunting conditions, and he likes the way the net will smooth out the surface of the water on rough days. We had about...

SOME HELP ON SELECTING A BOAT

Hey Bill, I did get an email a while back with some pics of you and Marty on hunt down there. Looks like you had a good season. We're doing well up here. Trying to keep up with the youngin' for the most part, but still having a bit of fun now and then. I can't complain.

SOME HELP ON SELECTING A BOAT

Nice rig Bill. If you can float in 12 inches I think you are doing pretty good. If I can float my BB3 in less water when it's full of gear it's not my much. Less than knee deep water and I am walking.

    Waterfowl in Iceland

I was at a research station on lake Myvatn which is in northern Iceland. That lake was essentially closed to watefowl hunting as all the land is private and the locals like to harvest the eggs, ferment them and make a stinky spread they put on crackers with them. They have some seagull shoots...

    Canada/Mexico/Argentina Questions

Saskatchewan is 20 lights/per day with 60 possession for both spring and fall seasons, darks are 8/day for non-residents and I think 10/day for residents. Ducks are 8/day with a pintail limit of 3/day.

    Delaware Snow Goose Hunt

Wow, 14 guys in one field is a lot, even with a spread of 2k decoys. You should've just complimented the other group on their superior shooting and given them the birds.

    Federal's Black Cloud.

I hunted snow geese with three guys that were shooting this stuff earlier this year. They each shot a case or more. One guy loved it and the other two hated the stuff and were trying to sell their stock off to the rest of us. One thing of interest with this stuff was that the guys shooting it...

    long line minimum weight

I'd use them. Throw 2 on the upwind side on 1 downwind and I think you'll be fine 95% of the time and if you need more you can always double them up. I've gotten by with less weight and more dekes in similar conditions.

Mud Motor on Black Brant3 Wood Boat

You should contact the motor manufacturer. I would exercise some caution here. These motors where originally designed to go on FLAT bottom boats and performance dropped off a lot with any degree of V to the hull, even the semi-V jon boats. They also tend to do the best in shallow water where...

    which pair of binoculars?

Eagle Optics has a retail store in Madison, WI (might actually be in Middleton) if you find yourself in the area. I thought they were a pretty good outfit to do business with.

    Black Brant III HP

I bought a new Johnson 2-stroke 30hp in 2003, and I think they were the only company making one at the time. It's been a good motor for me so far. From what I remember Yamaha last made one in 2002. Hi Pete - It's been fun to learn a new area. I miss hunting on Sundays, but not the...

    Black Brant III HP

I have a 2-stroke 30hp and I wouldn't want anything less. If you go with a 4-stroke you will need to factor the extra size and weight into your plans. A 4-stroke adds around 100 lbs over a 2-stroke which is a lot in this boat.
