No I started using an epoxy over the bills to allow me to carve the detail in with out having any issues with the wood grain. Also makes the bills stronger.

Thanks Steve! The body is cedar and head is tupelo. This was judged in the IWCA Open Class. There only a few shows that sponsor IWCA style decoys. Other shows might have a contemporary or fancy gunning division that would fall into the same style decoys. here the web site...

Cedar. Decoy was not screwed in the vice to good. Was giving me issues. Draw knife could be sharpen also.
