For you Lab owners, this makes for a great "pattern blind"

Every morning:

1- Put on the coffee (You, not the dog)
2- Open front door and check both ways for traffic (ditto)
3- "Back!"

Note: Sunday paper is a good way to learn how to pick up geese. The only pitfall is if that middle chunk of Ads starts to slide out of the wrapper on a windy, cold day. :>0

Now, if I can teach her to get firewood for the woodstove.......

Very good, I like the third one. You'd think she had a goose with that spirit.

I had a lab that was great at following wounded deer. She really wasn't into chasing them, but she would sure find them when we lost the blood trail!

I taught my old Golden to retrieve beer from the fridge. I never could teach him to close the door, which made the Blue Tick we had very happy.

Nice shots

Bill has been pretty good about bringing the papar in since that and frizbees are his only fun this year---Not of his doing!!
Have also taught him to pick up stuff on floor, especially socks, etc. That one had gotten scowls from da boss, since he often checks the laundry basket for stuff.
Gotta get him back into the field before my down time begins.

In the 90's I had a Vizsla who would retrieve the paper, they are a versatile breed.
He also learned how to eat corn on the cob but that wasn't nearly as useful.

When we lived in Wasilla Alaska our old gal chessie Belle used to run to the paper box at the end of the drive and get our paper. She loved that morning task.

my mate used to have a dog that use to pick up the morning paper and one morning he came back with it, with crap all over it and when I asked why,
he said the dog could,nt find anything else to wipe his backside on, and he witnessed that, and that is no joke.
Take care and God Bless

Tim,

Who would want a dog that runs out and points the paper??

IF the dog was pointing out ads for Labs,,,,,,,,, now that would be useful. :>)

Good grief, he'd hunt dead. Besides don't ya think a hunting dog that has been around for over a thousand years can tell the difference between paper and feathers.

Seems like everyone claims their lab is a pointer in SD, if they can't say that they almost seem embarrassed to be hunting with an inferior dog. ;-)

In the off season our lab Mocha spends alot of time with us clamming and will swim your clams back to the boat and deposit in a bucket. Best part is she knows what bucket to put them in, mine. Haha. It's fun to watch her try and swim underwater to retrieve clams off the sea bed.
She has also been coming out with us scuba diving and swims around above us watching the bubbles and following us. This year we are going to work on having her swim fish back to the boat after spearfishing. I hope it works out as well as the clamming.
