I am looking to get my own boat. I want something cheep and small for my first year alone then within the next 2 years move to a bigger boat like a duck wranger, duck boss, tdb c class, or a duck waters to start my guide service with but for now for just two people and gear would a tracker 1448 work ? would it be stable to stand in and shoot if I added a blind . any input helps so thanks

I hunted from a 1448 MV alumacraft for years. I hunt in Okeechobee and the Everglades. During fishing season I had a 25 mariner on it and I would run Okeechobee, flamingo and out in Florida Bay. During duck season i would bolt on my 24 HPlong tail mud buddy. It is not the right size boat for a long tail. It is too wide and too short...but it worked. I stood up all the time to shoot, look for fish on the flats, look for ducks, pee and drive(I built a grab rail to drive).

I hunted out of a 1440 mv jon for years on Mobile Bay, MS Sound and adjoining waters. Normally me & a partner, sometimes a dog. Worked great when it was just me in the boat, but with two guys, it was a little cramped and we had to be careful moving around. Also got the snot beat out of me more than once.
Now I have a 14' Smokercraft semi-V that is deep and wide. Much more stable and handles chop very well. Much better boat.
My advice: If you stick with a jon boat, go with a 16x48 MV. Or go with a semi-v.
BTW, where are you hunting?

I have been thinking about a semi v 14 foot because I know I can stand and move around in one because I have used one before. my prob is when im looking on cregslist I don't know how to tell the difference in the deep v and semi v by the pics .
