2 blacks a day?

Just got the word on the 2 a day and it is happening.
US & Canada worked it out and since the harvest numbers are not being met with the liberal 107 day season and multi bird take up north we will be allowed 2 a day in the states. Presently it is about 50 /50 but they feel 60/40 harvest is acceptable.
No clarification on the Hybrid issue.
 
Best scenario is to INCREASE the bag on mallard drakes, which MIGHT curtail the eventual extinction of both the black duck and the mottled duck.
It is a bloody shame that we have held the scavenging park duck in such high regard. Too long, in my opinion.
Perhaps overregulating people has caused the decline in hunters? Seems that fws and state wildlife folks are more concerned with people control than taking care of resources. It sure looks that way to me, anyway!
 
i agree with you that the mallard limit should increase. i don't understand the mallard thing. the black is the king of the marsh, especially the true black. i love just watching one fly within a flock, they are usually 2x the size!

i would also love for some old laws to be let go.if we can only shoot six birds why can't we use live decoys or a sink box?

i would love to raise my own call ducks or tend a big 2 man sink box rig with a down east lobster boat (maybe i could get nikki's dad to keep his hatteras in the water a little longer...)

I'm sure you know this but, overall take is a result of the limit, how effective folks are at getting to the limit and the number of days hunted. Altering the effectiveness of taking the limit (sneakox or call ducks) would increase harvest.

That being said, I would accept a reduced limit to enjoy the use of the tools you mention.
 
With unplugged shotguns, electronic callers, Spring seasons and sky high limits for Snows. Live callers and sinkboxes for waterfowl hunting may indeed be in the future. Who woulda thunk we would see such things? The circle goes around.
