I took my old 870 20 out the Thursday morning for a quick turkey hunt and harvested my second tom in two years with it. I've had this gun since I was 12 and shot a bird last year in Wisconsin with it but I didn't think I'd use it again. The night before I saw it sitting there in the gun case and figured why not give it a try again. I was surrounded by toms from the get go but I had my heart set on this two year old. Last Saturday I was guiding and had this guy come in off the roost. He finished but flanked us real bad and hung off my left shoulder 20 yards out for about 15 minutes spittin', drummin' and gobblin'. My hunter who was on his last youth hunt at 16 years old couldn't budge. So, the tom walked and we moved. My hunter ended up shooting a real dandy...25.8 lbs and 11 inch beard but this guy was stuck in my craw. It took him over an hour to work around a marsh to get to me and when he did it took him 20 minutes to finish from 50 yards to 25 where I stoned him with the 2 3/4 20 throwing an ounce of 6's through a solid mod tube.
