Hey guys,

Know this doesnt have anything to do with duck boats or hunting but Im gearing up for the trip to Houghton next week (about 4 hrs drive) and all of the sudden I am having issues with my 2004 Yukon.

I cant get in to my gm dealer before we leave so.....

What its doing is, when I take off lets say from a stop sign ( usually only going straight and not turning) the traction activation light - warning comes on, feels like Im loosing power, or almost like Im stuck in first, sounds like grinding. Then after a few seconds it kicks off and I can resume gear and power.

Im thinking maybe a sensor bad? What if I were to just manually turn off traction control for the time being? Ive tried that the past few days and I have no issues while driving around town that way..

OK thanks for any help or thoughts!

Bridget,

I can't help with the problem but I think you should call your local GM dealer and ask them the same question. If it's something severe and you explain the importance of having your vehicle, maybe they can get it in before Weds.

Maybe this will help- My wife has a 02 Trailblazer and it had some of the same symptoms. We thought it was a transmission problem, and it turned out to be the clutch fan was stuck. Big relief even though the fan was quite expensive it bweat a trans overhaul. I am fairly mechanical and it fooled me big time. Good luck.

well I got them to squeeze it in today to see if they could figure it out for me before we leave Wednesday

and guess what, for some reason the problem doesnt seem to be happening today.. go figure...

I passed along the info of the possible fan too.

I did some google work and found that my thoughts on the sensor maybe the reason too..

wait and see if they find anything, if not you may see Blake and I half way to Houghton with the thumbs stuck out : 0

Seems to me there was a Technical Service Bulletin about the Eaton rear locker differentials
as well. Might be something to have them look into.

I don't have access to the magical Alldata site anymore or I would try to help more.
