Gentleman the dates are out and for a weary old guy waiting to see if they finally after all these years will give us a liberal season on Sprig (Pintail).
excitement when I read that we will get an increase of 3 Sprig bag limit up from 1bag.
with a liberal 7 bird Bag limit 3 Sprig and 4 Mallard drakes will make a beautiful bag limit.
With the Scull boat ready as it ever will be and with the excitement grows as the days go by until October.
Even with the season opener in October I reframe from shooting many birds until they have a chance to get the colors and lose all the pin feathers.
I'm very old school and pick every bird I kill and there is nothing worse than picking through all the pin feathers in the early season Ducks.
I spend most time looking through my birds trying to find the most plumed out birds which always seem to be my Drake Mallards.
