I just got my hands on an old 25 mariner short shaft for dirt cheap, but my usual sources for parts or coming up empty.

Does any member here know where I can source some parts?

Motor isn't running at the moment but it isn't locked up and just needs a lil love and a few parts and she will be back screaming.
 
Try Twin City Outboard in Mpls., Minn. They have been pretty good to me. What parts do you need.? NAPA has a marine catalog that may help. Good luck. Is this one a Merc or Yamaha Mariner?
 
Thanks Tom, I will be giving them a call in the morning.

I'm not sure if it's a merc or yammy mariner. I do know it's the only two stroke three cylinder 25 mariner I have ever seen.

My dad has had several mariner motors through the years and all of them were two cylinders he said he has never seen one before either.

It needs a new tilt/trim motor, all the seals are bad and the gaskets, plug wires, all electric wires and fuses, starter is shot, pull rope assembly needs to be redone that's just what I see with my eye will know more when I get her turn down to bare block and start the rebuild.

I will most luckely do a complete rebuild and when she is back together water test for 100 hours then pull her apart and mod it out to get every once of power and speed from her.
 
I am pretty darn sure that Yamaha made a 3 cylinder 25hp/30hp engine back in the '90's. If its from that time frame, I bet that's what it is.
Guy I hunted with a couple of times back in the 98-99 season had on of the 30hps on a 16' Caroline Skiff, it was a smooth, quiet (for a 2 stroke) engine with lots of torque. But a little heavy.
 
The Merc/ Yamaha question has as much to do with hp. as year. Without looking it up (kinda laid up now) I would guess you have a Yamaha, if so GOOD FIND. If you want to PM me the mod/ ser # I might be able to find something for you.
 
I been running numbers this morning and from what I found it is a 90/91 model.

Got her torn down almost all the way this morning, carbs are in the trash, power head is still good, water impeller is trash but I figured it would be.

Like I posted last night it will be a complete rebuild for sure but it's worth it, you just can't beat a old two stroke three cylinder outboard, smooth running,easy to fix and mod out and they just hull butt.
 
Those 3 cylinder 25s fetch top dollar in Arkansas where there are 25 hp restrictions. Guys tweak them to 40 hp so they can win races to timber holes. Racing in the dark through creeks in the timber isn't my thing but they are dependable motors in demand and hold resale like no others. Good find. Can you post pictures?
 
I have her turn down to bare parts right now but will post some pics when I get her back together.

I could drop 3000 grand into this motor and still double my money on resale here in louisiana, us cajun's like to mod them out slap them on a light weight aluminum boat with jack plate and run the shallow marsh with them looking for ducks and bass but she ain't going nowhere, I keep all the old two stroke three cylinder motors I buy.

She will be joining my yammy and merc motors that are modded out.
 
Found me a two cylinder two stroke 25 mariner for a parts motor.

Guy said it was locked up so he gave it to me, got it home and hung messed with it a lil and it is not locked up at all, shifts in to all gears and holds tight.

So I got a good parts motor are I can but the three cylinder to the side and just fix up this one decisions decisions decisons.

No sir that was the only pic of the parts motor.

Thank you Eric, if I had more time to sit down at the computer I could have done it no problem but it won't allow it from the not so smart phone.
