I just had to get out this morning. Poor lighting or not. I have been holed up long enough. The birds are starting there northern migration and a few ducks and geese stoped by and rested on the lake today. Many different species and was hopeful to get some ok shots. It was such a good feeling to be back out there with the camera in hand. Tomorrow, I am going to grab some decoys and take my blind and see if I can get some special pics.

This was how the day started, first sighting after parking the boat.

Hey Gary

Love those shots of the Ringnecks on the water. By the way...you got a Pintail mixed with your Widgeons. :)

See you next week?

At least the Pintail was flying solo out in front. A few picture prior to that, there is a drake Mallard which looks to be paired up with a hen Pintail.

(I realize the hen Mallard below and behind him is his mate, but the angle of the pictures puts him closer to the hen Pintail.)

Spectacular pictures Gary. I'd be tempted to frame several of them.

But no dog? I enjoy seeing your water spaniel. I've showed your pics to a friend who has a 1 year old AWS.

Great shots as usual Gary!!! While you were right below me having fun, I was spreading mud in my basement. It's funny how close I am to the river, yet, I never get down there!

Sweet Gary...second to the last and third to last Pintails photos are SWEET, as are the Ringer photos!!

What beautiful shots, Gary. Thanks for posting. Glad you got out and stretched your legs. Looks like that f2.8 was doing its thing! On my dream list.

Nice photos, Gary. In the photo of the five widgeons, the big drake on the bottom looks like a "storm" widgeon. Anyone else notice that?

Great shots Gary. Are those taken with just the 300? Or do you have a teleconverter on it too?.... or are you cropping those images?
