5/8 Bronze Top Mount Oarlock Sockets?

Need a set of 5/8" bronze sockets to fit the oarlocks for the scull restoration I'm working on. Only one of the original sockets are still there and it is steel. I found them in galvanized but would really like to find them in bronze. If any of you know of a source or happen to have any on hand you might be willing to part with, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Not sure if it's the same size you need but I got a pair for my duck boat at Jamestown Distributors. They have a big on line store. Search on bronze top mount oar lock socket. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks Kenley, I had checked there and they only carry 1/2" shank sockets in top mount.

The link I included says 9/16"? If all else fails I would either ream the hole, or turn down the pin. If your pins truely are 5/8" your pretty close.

Yeah I didn't look at that one too closely, I need the standard rectangle shape to fit the blocks that will go on the deck.

5/8" shank is a hard size to find.

They have them...at $130 per set! On a teacher's salary, I'm going to have to stick with galvanized unless I can find a vintage set on ebay at some point.

Yeah, I couldn't afford them either. They looked period acurate but that's expensive. Like Dave mentioned. Buy the 9/16" socket and ream for clearance. Rather than buy an expensive reamer get a 37/64" (.6406) drill bit for a close fit or 21/32" (.65626) drill bit for a loose clearance for your 5/8" shank.

if you send me a print, i think i could make you a set, scott

Thanks Scott. I believe I've found an inexpensive solution, the Sea Dog line comes with a nylon bushing to reduce the opening from 5/8" to 1/2". That being the case, theoretically, i should be able to remove the bushing and have a 5/8" opening. I also purchased a set of old galvanized 5/8" oar locks because the have the taper on the inside of the sleeve like the original. Should be able to use one of the two.

Out of curiosity, were you going to machine them or cast?

Thanks again,
Brad
