I have a Lowe Roughneck 1860 with a rebuilt 60hp Evinrude. According to my boat mechanic that rebuilt the motor he thinks its closer to a 70hp with the way its bored. I run about 28-30 mph at 4700rpm weather its lightly or heavily loaded. Not quite maximum throttle but close to it. I hate running up the rpm's any more than that to prevent excess wear and tear on the motor. The motor has been a good reliable motor that I've had for around 5 years now. What kind of speeds do you think I should be getting out of my motor and boat combo? I know the prop pitch plays a part. Not sure what the prop pitch is on my stainless steel prop off the top of my head. Any recommendations on how I can get a few more mph's?
