'86 Evinrude outboard - need a good gas/oil ratio

I'm running an old Evinrude 40 that, evidently, started out as a self oiler. That function's been disabled, but I can't find a recommended gas/oil mix. It's an E40ECDE, if that's any help. Can anyone help me out?

I would have no issue mixing it a bit richer than 10O:1. I have disabled several oiler over the years and mixed at slightly lower than 100:1 and every one of them motors is still running. The new oil options are so much better than the motor oil like stuff we had years ago, over oiling will make that motor into a "choke and puke" special.

I run the "wally world" Evinrude/Johnson brand semi synthetic for oil injection at 50:1 in my 1993 which is also a disabled VRO.

Vey simple- 50:1 TCW oil and move on. TCW= two cycle water cooled. Brand don't matter if it says TCW. You can use a better oil if you want even synthetic if you want but 50:1 will do the trick. BTW VRO didn't stand for "very rarely oiled", even though it did have a stinky reputation.
I had to laugh when I reread my post here- Your "old outboard is 10 years newer than my newest one. ;-))

ran the same motor for years disable the VRO (very rarely oiled) system the first year. I ran 50:1 ratio and had no problems with loading up of plugs. Only had problems with the stator frying all the electrical components one at a time until mechanic finally figured it out. Power head was still going strong when the lower unit went to hell.

I had a '97 115hp Evinrude with VRO disables, ran WallyWorld oil 50:1 for years, no problem
