A cold day chasing puddlers 11 pics long

Great pictures.

This winter storm and cold temperatures may just push them farther south. It was fun while it lasted.

Great pictures. Looks cold there. It was in the mid 60's around here today. We need some of that cold weather to show up.

Jeff,
Garys dog isn't a poodle, it's an American Water Spaniel,

But here is a site I found with hunting poodles...

Gary- how big is River? Where did you get him? I had an AWS from Barth's ( Swan Lake) in WI when I lived in Vermont. He was a tank and all muscle. Terrific retrievers and family dogs.

Hey Reardon- I used to get pissed when people asked me if Gus was a poodle ( titleguy here).

Great pics.

Hello John
I got River out of a kennel in Missouri called Castlepeak Kennels. The owner passed away shortly after I recieved her at a young age with cancer. His goal was to breed the larger size of American Water spaniels. He accomplished his goal. River is huge for a water spaniel at 71 lbs. She is a bit over weight but her sister Dixie is also large. I keep in contact with the owner of Dixie. She also is an awesome dog. River has no problem retrieving geese ,swans or what ever. Thanks for inquiring.

Thanks Gary- thought she looked big- gorgeous. You responded to Reardon's question ( I know Jeff) the same way I would when people asked what kind of poodle. Gus was huge at 70 lbs too. He hunted late season on Champlain ( into December) and late December on Cape Cod with no problem ( other than drinking salt water the first day and "decorating" the truck...) I'm just getting back into the game and already recognize the need for the hound. Once you've had an AWS, you don't want anything else. Did anyone take over the operation or the bloodlines?

John
His wife moved the operation to N.J. and is now breeding Chesapeake's. and possibly AWS. Not really sure. Hope this helps. The name is still Castlepeake kennels. I believe you can find her on the webb.

Gary
