A cold thanksgiving eve

We had an ubelievable hunt wednesday morning, the stars were aligned and everything worked out just right.

Some extremely cold artic air blew in the night before and froze everything up with the exception of a certian flow that feeds a small area of the refuge. I was betting on the birds piling in there and I wasnt dissapointed when we motored down the the channel. I would say we kicked out somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-35 thousand birds, plus or minus a few thousand. After we got set up birds would trickle back in throughout the course of the day, it was simply awesome. This day definately makes into the the top 5.

That is a fantastic hunt. You sure were in the right spot. I am hoping that some of those birds decided to get the heck out of your area and start flying a touch south/south east. I'll be back on the Rio this morning. More ducks are beginning to show up here. It is now 13F outside and for us, that is darn cold.

Joe, congrats, right place at the right time and you were willing to get out there and do it. That will be a hunt you will never forget! Wish the weather would do that here on the east coast.

Joe,
that is a smokin hunt. Looks like one for the books for sure. I love the ice.
You just dont get those kind of days every time out. But it sure is nice to hit one once in a while.

Thanks guys, it was an amazing day and damn cold too. I dont think it got above 15 the whole day. Thank god for swift moving water when it gets cold out. Now if it stays this cold I think its gonna be whistlers from here on out, but you wont find me complaining!!
