Dear friends,
I offer this devotion for all who knew and loved Lee Harker.
Peace,
Larry Eckart, Pastor
Hope Lutheran Church
Linden, MI
Chaplain, The Mighty Layout Boys
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me besides the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his namesake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Thou preparest a table before me, in the presence of mine enemies. Thou annointest my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me, all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving Lee for us to know and love and share great times over water, over carving, over boat building, and over drinks. He was not blessed to live in duck mecca, but that did not stop him from connecting with guys around the country who benefitted from his knowledge and willingness to help a brother. Thank you for his life, and, given his great illness, his relatively short time of suffering. Be with his wife, daughter, son and grandchildren as they mourn and walk through the "valley of the shadow." Comfort the fellow hunters who are grief stricken. And may we all treasure our time on earth as Your gift to be used wisely. In Your Name, Amen.
Luke 2:29-31 "Lord now let your servant depart in peace, according to your Word. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared before the face of all people."
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Now may I lie down and sleep in peace for You alone O Lord, make us dwell in safety. Amen.
