A few pics from the weekend

In between the rain clouds we actually had a bit of sun. Not much but more than we had in a month. I had to go out in the mornings as River was driving me crazy. She thought maybe I was in a depression or something. Not many birds around yet but there coming. I did get a few pics, but not much to brag about. Thanks for looking and good luck everyone who will be chasing turkeys before long.

These first two are of a common Merganser, Hint,Hint MLbob Furia

These next six are of some geese. I never really liked shooting pics of geese but now am pleased to try and get some great shots of them. I have so much more appreciation for them now.

Next is a pic of a mallard. Definately not proud of this shot.

Now a redwing blackbird. I really like this shot as it is so hard to get the blacks not all washed out.

Next is this shot of some Ringnecks. Very poor angle of the lighting but love to hunt these little guys.

River was so glad to be out running around like a crazy women. Had to post one of her.

I was happy with these widgeon shots, both were taken with the sun out.

Then this Porcupine was hanging high up in the trees. Glad River didn't get tangled up with it.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Gary

Nice Gary! You set a very high bar... that RW Blackbird is very cool, but I like the single goose on the water the best. The pic of River reminds me on my wife, when she is in a cleaning frenzy before company comes over, LOL!

I am looking forward to the pics of the Common decoy you receive. I doubt it will look "Common"...

Gary, great photos, as usual.
I was feeling a little down today,...until that shot of River. Absolute joy! Brought an immediate smile to my face.
Thanks for the pick up.

Gary,
Awesome shots! That merganser is by far my favorite. I need to get one of those carved and your pics will help a great deal. You might want to tell River that its 6 months to duck season. She sure has a crazy look in her eyes and if this is how she looks in March, I would hate to see what she looks like in August with 5 more months of off season under her belt. All kidding aside though, it looks like you guys are having a great time.

Wow - The merg's colors are the best. Super stuff !
If you ever take River trick or treating.............you'll get all the candy !

Great photos Gary. I like the one of the Merganser running the best followed by River.

Gary,
Thanks for the photos. The one of the resting canada really shows that some of the decoys with a real high side pocket just are not completely correct. And the area behind the neck is lower on your photo bird than lots of other decoys.
Grat shots, Thanks again.

Great photos again Gary. especially like the goosanders, common mergansers,... Still waiting for my T shirt to arrive, will post it up when it does.

Thanks for taking the time, Paul.

Thanks for the pics, Gary. You sure have captured some marvelous moments with River. That could be a book in itself. I sure zeroed in on those feet of the Mergy. What a great capture on the take-off. The second shot was nice also with catching that beautiful reflection.

Nice shots Gary. I like the one of the porcupine, I don't see them too often. Looks like he's got a lot of nice willow shoots to eat there.

The dog looks real happy to be out too!

Gary,

I got a moment to check in and start taking in this site. Naturally, I gravitated immediately to this post and was glad to see it. Awesome photos as usual!

I sent you the update from the past weekend youth turkey hunt. Let me know if you think this site is appropriate for sharing the boys turkey hunt.
