advice on youth model o/u

Do any of you guys have experience with stoeger or CZ firearms? I am interested in purchasing guns for both my children ages 9 and 11. I do not want to spend a fortune for guns. I would normally buy a better gun but both my kids seem to be able to handle the youth model of these guns fairly well. I have a youth model 20 870 and they cannot handle it due to weight. My children r small both under 55lbs and short stature and I would not feel guilty about cutting down stocks on a 399.00 gun. Both of my children are great shots with pistols and 22. They r ready to start shooting at ducks, not just watching dad shoot. Thanks for the advise.

Lee, I bought my youngest boy a used CZ 20 ga 3" Canvasback that was already cut down for sellers wife. Great little gun now my wife claimed it since the boy will be growing out of it. We went to Club last week and she is hooked on skeet now. Doesnt knock the crap out of either of them( has a limb saver pad to).The nice part is the o/u cuts out the action length getting there smaller arms down farther the barrel, easier to swing, point, hold up. Yet having enough weight to it. Plus the shortend stock combines to make it much more comfortable for the women and kids. Another thing they claim the shooting under barrel first cuts down on muzzle jump and directs recoil lower into shoulder and keeps ya closer on follow up shots. I don't know if in real world it's that noticable to me, but ladies and kids maybe. I wouldn't spend my money on Stoger, never ever.

Lee,

Have you looked at the Yildiz Brand O/U that Academy Sports sells? They have a 20 ga o/u that is the same price as the ones you listed above. Now I have never shot one of the 20 ga but I have shot a lot of rounds out of their 12 ga and its been really good for the price. I know that you have to be pretty picky in the store because not all of their stocks are the same. I put in the link for the O/U http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_126519_-1?N=39632025+4294958154 but they also make a 20 ga side by side and a 20 ga special edition. It's just an option that you could look at. Good luck in the search.
