After 40 yrs I finally have a new outboard

I finally did it. With my newest motor being a 1987 Evi 15hp I finally pulled the trigger on a new outboard.
Went with a Suzuki 20hp EFI with electric start. At 100lbs I can swap it between my 12' v-hull, my 1984 AA Broadbill and my 14' fishing boat.
I justified it by promising I would sell at least 2 of my two strokes. Boy are these 4 strokes nice! Was able to get one for about $3300.00 after a few rebates.

Congratulations!

Sounds familiar. My newest is the same old Evinrude you had. I keep waffling about a new engine - because I use one so infrequently these days Most "boat hunts" hereabouts in dairy country are with canoes. My Long Island hunts are with friends - in their vessels.

The electric start is certainly a nice feature for this old body. On the other hand, my 78-pound Evinrude is lots less weight on the stern of either of my sneakboxes. I just missed (I was the dreaded :second caller") an old Evinrude with electric start - nearby on Facebook Marketplace. Finding the perfect outboard is lots like finding the perfect duckboat..... I hope yours is perfect for you!

All the best,

SJS

Chip,
Congratulations on your purchase! Just curious, do you need to modify the transom on you various boats to accommodate the long shaft? If so, how do you intend to go about it? RM

Chip, congratulations! Fantastic motor I have a 15hp Suzuki 2022 model and swap between boats as well. You will find it's so quiet you'll second guess if it's on! Enjoy
