AK trip - LOOOONG and NDR....

NICE!!! A trip like that takes a whack of planning so congrats to you guys for making so smooth for Gus. Those pictures and memories will get even better with age.

It was really nice to meet you in person Todd, and I hope to see you again sometime.

Wow tod! Thanks for sharing that trip with us! I noticed it had been quiet around here most of the summer. Now, we know why :)

Seriously though, you all did have a trip that most of us dream about.

What a great experience for all three of you and the dogs. Most don't realize the miles you have to travel to see the state. Spent three vacations there and didn't get to see what you did. Ever get the mud off the vehicles??? Great post...

such a great trip. I'd already been planning something like this for when my kids are the right age, but to see it in pictures just deepens the desire. My buddy's dad just did it pretty reasonably ($$) by renting in anchorage and scaling down your trip significantly. I imagine just pulling out the float trip and bush plane rides would cut the budget significantly (although they are basically the crowning achievements of the trip). I've got a few years, still figuring out my schedule.

I still have mud work to do and I've spent hours already. I need to put goggles and a swimsuit and go under the thuck and trailer and get soaked.

It is a big state, we put 4000 miles on the truck in state!

Tod, all I can say to this post - is awesome - thanks so much for sharing - I worked in Galena AK many years ago for the FWS and fell in love with it all - my now wife and several friends met me in Fairbanks for an extended vacation with RVs and it was absolutely awesome... what you have done is far more that I have ever done, but what I have dreaned of for many years - what an awesome experience for your son and wife and you - I am not sure I have the kahoonus to do what you have done anfd that kind of bothers me, but I am very glad that you have done it and shared it with all of us, so i can experience it vicariously - congratulations for accomplishing such a lifetime experience - right now you are a hero in my mind!!!!! Thanks again for sharing this experience - GOOD JOB MAN!!!!
