Mark,
Great video. I haven't seen a flight like that since I was a boy. Very cool. Back in the day and long before Habitat Flats, Swan Lake refuge and Sumner, MO was synonymous with goose hunting. We would take off from work on Friday afternoon and drive the 6 hour trip to Sumner. I can't even tell you the name of the motel we stayed at but there was a bar and they were hunter/pet friendly as I'm sure the whole town was. As a matter of fact I don't remember an evening where the only person NOT in camo was the bartender. We'd hit the sack around 10:00pm and the alarm would go off at 3:30am. Droggy headed we'd head to the bar for a breakfast that beats the imagination then pile into our trucks and head for a field where all there was was several metal pits buried in the field surrounded by decoys. We'd hand a gentleman at the gate our reservations and he'd assign hunters to their pits for the mornings hunt. The only way you knew you were in the right field was an old faded sign hangin off a gate that said GooseHaven. I'll tel you it's a sight to behold when the sun starts to rise and what you think is a rain cloud in the distance that goes from horizon to horizon and the moment you realize that's not a cloud but Canada Geese headed your way, well it's a sight I'll never forget!
