Beautiful looking bird. Most likely leucistic(sp). A genetic disorder with the lack of color genes. OR A good looking cross with some one's tame flock.

Joe:
I have only seen one other Hybrid Mallard. I was in the local park, it mated with a domestic "White Scoby female pen raised table duck left behind by the summer crowd on there way back from summer vacation. I guess we could get use to shooting White Mallards over our rigs. D Dominski

Nah! he is smarter then the rest of his group and is wearing his winter camo snow suite, gives him the edge when you pause to shoot not being sure what he is and away he goes, when you hesitate. Ha Ha

How do you know it is a guy? How would it be counted in the bag?

Poor bird. Probably can't find any ture friends. Wonder what non PC names he/she is called by the others?

Dark head, curls on the tail and drake bill (that and the wing is what you should go by on any duck).
It would be counted as a drake mallard because all park ducks except muscovies, and that is surely not a muscovy, are mallards.

I'd bet he has no problem getting a little lady... or just borrowing one. ;-)

Should have added a smiley but I did not know curlies equate to male. Could be a transvestite/transgender duck couldn't it (add smiley face emoticon).

It's a silver mallard (no albino, no hybrid, just a domestic)...don't be looking for zebras in a horse pasture....

I know you are joking but I just want to clear up something so nobody thinks I'm saying if it has curls it is a drake. Curls do not equate drake directly, with what else I see it does. Wing and then bill, and wing wins out. Can't see the white stripe on top of the speculum in that picture but it's a drake.
