All most ready to launch

This has been a project...one that I started several years ago...I found and cut down a Sea Ray 20ft. hull...removed the floor, stringers and transom...then began to redesign the hull into a duck boat that I could use to navigate the Great South Bay on Long Island...New stringers, transom, and floor...sealed in fiberglass and resin and I used Nida-Core structural panels for the decking...a coat of paint and had the hull wrapped in camo clad that I purchased online several years ago....however, as technology moves forward I learned that the company I used to wrap the hull has the ability to design and digitally print camouflage patterns right in his shop of better quality...I will be working on grass rails, rub rails, lights and cleats next. Finally, registration.

Very impressive indeed. I had a 1971 20' Sea Ray years ago as my fishing boat. That hull design is very sea worthy. I could trim up the stern drive and plow through seas, bow up to the sky, that would swamp other boats. In moderate to flat seas, I'd trim it down to plane and it would skip over a 1 foot chop nice and smooth. It did have a Chevy 350 aka Merc cruiser 260.
You got a great hull, and did wonders to it.

Outboard .....not sure of the size.....I also might install a center console....I have an old friend who has been on the bay his whole life....I will be consulting him along with one of the best outboard mechanics on the river

Good evening, Frank~

Excellent! Having seen it in an earlier stage, I can attest that your workmanship is first-rate.

Congratulations!

Thanks to everyone for your comments....my idea of recycling an old junker was inspired by two friends and members of the Pattersquash Gun Club...Bud Corwin and Dick Richardson....they began making and designing similar gunning boats (known as pow pows) in the 70's out of old fiberglass hulls....the name "pow pow" was coined by Bud...Bud was laying down in the hull....working on the design, length, height, and width....as he would sit up with his imaginary shotgun....shooting at imaginary stooling Black ducks....he shouted out "pow pow," thus the term....spending time with Bud and Dick.... hearing their stories has been invaluable.

Frank, that is a wonderful duckboat transformation. Really neat how you took an old hull and transformed it into a nice gunning boat. I bet your project will spark others to do the same. Congrats on a fine boat.
