Whats a perch ??????

A perch can be summed up in three words..."delectable tasty morsel". Here's a picture...

They aren't as big as tuna, but still fun to catch. They're even more fun to eat.

Steve

Yes they are!
Hey Steve, I have a bunch of disposable flatware I'll bring and plates. Also, I'll make some tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and coleslaw.

Gene

Sounds good Gene...

John K. had to bow out of the fishing trip and won't be able to make it to the get together. That opens up a seat on the boat for perch fishing if anybody is interested in helping to secure lunch for the day.

Steve

Nice ones Rich...we've been getting them in 52' to 58' feet in the last week or two, but just average sizes. I've heard reports of some jumbos lurking in the 60+ range though. That's where I'm heading on the next trip out.

Steve

Gene and Chris...shoot me over a PM with your phone number. Or you guys can text it it to me or call me. My dog ran off with my cell phone and all of my contacts are gone. I had to go get a new phone.

Steve

Hey Darin,

Yes we do need to get the dogs together and train some. Give me a call or we can talk this weekend. Maxx is doing well, I just need to harness some of the energy he has and slow him down a tad. He does fine when it's just the two of us, when there are other dogs involved he acts like a complete buffoon and does not like to share (retrieves). I'll have to get your number again too.

Steve

As it turns out, my wife's family is having a get together this same weekend. Good news is, it's at Presque Isle! I'll be able to swing over and say hello but likely can't hang out too long.

Cool Ryan...we'll see ya there! And I'll bring some strikers along.

I think everybody knows where the Niagara Boat Launch is located on Presque Isle, but just in case. It's the launch about 1/4 mile past the Ranger Station on the right. There's plenty of parking, and I was there this morning...there's plenty of water to launch boats as well.

See ya Saturday around noon.

Steve

Hate to do this fellas, but I have to bow out.

Out of a crew of four, we had a guy quit this week and another had emergency surgery Monday so I got pressed into working tomorrow.

I was really looking forward to attending.

Hope you have a good time. Take plenty of pictures!

I'll be thinking about it as I toil away...

Jon

Steve,

Sorry I didn't make it over. We got a late start due to a soccer game and got to Presque about 2. When we arrived at Sara's campground I didn't have cell service to call and see if you guys were still around or how much longer you would be there.

Hope you all had a good time.

Sorry you couldn't make it Ryan. We had a good time...Darin, John Aug and wife Diane, and my wife and son were the only ones to show up. It was pretty much a bust this year as far as people in showing up, but we still ate lots of perch, corn on the cob, tater salad and peach pie. We'll try again next year and see if we can't get more people to show up. I think the picnic/fish fry went really well. That's a shoe in for next year already.

Steve

Those who weren't able to make it missed out on a good time and good food. I am all for doing it again next year, including the perch. I'll certainly have a boat for next year and maybe we can spend some time on the water.

I'm all for doing the perch again next year. I think we will just bring the perch down instead of trying to catch it in the morning. We went out Sunday with Chris and did horrible...only 12 fish in the box after 5 hours! We had the wrong bait for the day...another guy from our dock had a 4 man limit when he headed back to port. They were picky on Sunday for sure.

Next year maybe we'll look at doing a fishing trip on the big lake AFTER the get together. And I would definitely like to get my duck boat in the water next year as well.
