I'm just going to throw this out here instead of trying to suit if everybody's schedule, that gets frustrating...If you can make it great! If not maybe next year.

August 24 - Presque Isle in Erie, PA at Niagara Boat Launch 12:00
If you want to come and aren't sure where that is shoot me a PM and I'll gladly get directions for you. This place has plenty of water so there's no chance of not being able to launch due to low water. There are also plenty of picnic tables / grills. Bring the family, they can play on the beaches while we play with our boats, decoys and calls. Bring along your carving tools if you want too.

Contact me for more info.

Please reply here if you do plan to show up.

See ya there,
Steve

Steve, sounds good I'm in. I could bring my fryer and we could eat some of the yummy perch you have been catching with that big fancy pants boat.

How 'bout this...the fishing boat leaves port at 07:00 and will head out for the big water of Lake Erie (weather pending). The first 3 guys that want to hop aboard and help catch some fresh perch for a fish fry at the Duckboat / Decoy get together are welcome to come along. We can fish til about 10 or so, go to the cleaning station then run right over to Presque Isle for some delicious fresh fish. If the fishing is slow I have some in the freezer to back us up.

I can fish four people off the boat (including myself) comfortably, more if necessary. So the first three to confirm have a seat for some fishing fun before we go to Presque Isle.

By the way Gene...you can leave your fryer at home. I have one that needs to get some use, I'll bring that down. You just bring some of those jalapeno /cheddar sausages.

I'm in. Unfortunately my boat wont be ready for water by then. Although if I had a trailer I would think about bringing it in it's partially done state. Anyone know of a used boat trailer for sale? I might bring you a surprise though.

I am going to try and make it over.

Steve, I seem to have lost the striker for my turkey call in the woods. Can you please let me know what a replacement costs? Thx.

Yash...sorry you can't make it. You're more than welcome if you want to make the trip over.

Darin...I'll keep ears open for a trailer. Or try to figure something out to get your boat down there. I'd like to check out the progress you've made. And I like surprises!

Ryan...Hope ya make it over again. I'll have a striker with me if you make it.

Chris...I've got some rods on the boat, just grab you're license and come on up. I'll need some help catching and cleaning some perch for this little shin-dig.

Anybody else? Vince? Tim? John Y.? John A.?

Talk to Tim B., I think he has a jet ski trailer he wants to sell.

Steve, Resv my seat. I'm in for the perch fishing. Which sausages the fresh hotdogs with jalapinos and cheddar or the antelope summer sausage w/ cheese and peppers? Both?
Yash, think of it as a 7 hr drive to go on a guide perch charter w/ a boat get together after. All u have to do is add fishing or hunting to a long drive and it easily justified.

I'll be there and the perch fishing sounds good if there is a spot left.

I don't currently have a boat but I've had my share of duck boats.

Sounds good John...The perch fishing seats are filled with Gene, Chris and John unless one of them can't make it for some reason. Please let us know in plenty of time if any of you guys can't make it. Bring your perch face too, the afternoon fish fry is counting on you guys. I'll contact you guys by phone before that weekend to get the details for getting to the boat. John...shoot me over a PM with your phone number please.

Gene...I'm good with both the hotdogs with jalapenos and the antelope sausage. I've gotta try that...never had antelope before.

By the way, we were out last night and it was a slow bite with lots of junk fish including a couple goliath sheephead. We managed to box 20 out of the mix before heading back to port at sunset.

I put this on my calendar, which basically means- I'll see you-all there.

I'm really busy, but I hope to have the Dodger finished up to try out. maybe a new motor too.

I don't think I can do the "Perch" thing. Sounds like fun though.

Let me know what I can bring. I'll see if I can drag the Mrs. along. She's usually up for a day of fun. (and, she's a really good cook and baker too!)

Darin, I hope you can bring your new rig out that day. I'd like to see how it's coming along.

Jon

Great John...My wife will likely be there as well. She can't pass up some fresh perch and a good get together. Nobody is really required to bring anything, but if you guys want to add to the smorgasbord then you're more than welcome. If she's a good cook and baker I'm certainly not going to discourage her from bringing something. See ya in a few weeks.

Steve

Hey Steve,
I have the date on the calender at work. I normally work Saturdays but I'll try to get there. Don't have a boat of interest but could bring some decoys and an appetite.
Hope to see ya there, John

Sounds good John...even if you only make it down for a little while that would be great. Hope to see ya there.

Steve

This just in...It turns out there's actually a perch fishing tournament the same day as our duckboat get together. I just found this out last night while cleaning a mess of perch. The guy that is running the tournament was also at the cleaning station tending to his catch. So if there's any interest in entering the tournament you guys let me know...Gene, John K. and Chris...and I'll get more information. Otherwise we can just go ahead with our original plan of catching some perch for the Duckboat and Decoy get together.

Doesn't matter to me.

What are the parameters of the tournament?
Cost ?

I'm fishing for the fun and to provide for the fish fry but if we have an outside chance in the tournament and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg then that would add to the fun.

Doesn't really matter to me, whatever the other guys want to do.

If you need me to come up and help scout for fish between now and then let me know. I might sacrifice a day of work to help a friend out. ;-)

Well, I just checked on the details of the perch tournament and weigh in isn't until 12:30 so we won't be able to enter into this contest with the duckboat and decoy get together at noon. I figured we would need to be cleaning the catch by 10 or so in order to make it over to Niagara Boat Launch with our duckboats.

Chris, come on up and help with the scouting whenever you want. Just give me a call first. The last two weekends have had terrible weather for perching, hopefully this weekend will be a bit better.
