Anybody out there feeling WARM?

Nice pics, the first one almost looks like a painting.

Nope, I am cold. First time I have lived anywhere where the high didn't make it above freezing for five consecutive days. I think the morning should be pretty good. I was scouting for bands and found a specklebelly mixed in with the canadas.
 
WHADDYA MEAN THE MIGRATION HASN"T OCCURRED? We're covered up in spanish speaking park ducks that are depleting the mottled duck gene pool. They're everywhere! They keep moving in...and they're red legged and everything, so I KNOW they haven't been living here...
 
Don't let Steve full you. Those pictures where taken weeks ago when it was still t-shirt weather. Since then it has gotten a bit cold around here...

Cool photos, both literally and figuratively.
We have been a little bit above the predicted highs so it felt pretty nice here the past two days. Not making the ice I was hoping for though.

Is that a Harlan about to get a new one ripped by that Rough Legged hawk? We get quite a few Rough Legs around here but the big Ferruginous hawks that show up from time to time are my favorites.

thats a really agressive crop and the angle makes the Raven look bigger than it is.....

I don't think a Ferruginous Hawk would put up with that crap from a Rough Legged......they really aren't much more than a big Harrier with their little, in comparison, feet.....they're nimble but they're not much more than a giant mouse cartching machine...

Ferruginous Hawks give me the impression that they won't take crap off of anything..size and wt wise they aren't much bigger than a Rough leg but their feet are HUGE in comparison and their hunting style is "circle and stoop" from much higher than the lower "hover and drop" of the RoughLegs....

RoughLegs are really common on the winter plains...probably equal in numbers to RedTails.....Ferruginous,are far rarer here and always a treat to see.....

I really enjoyed the pictures Steve, Top notch. It was a little warmer today only -17 this morning. The migration has occurred.

I regret to inform any ducks to the north that may or may not be contemplating migration that they may be diverted to another landing strip if their flight plan includes NE CO. Walked a mile and a quarter this AM before I found a side channel with a little current where I could widen an opening in the two-inch ice. The jam in the main channel is such a mess...and a death trap for retrievers...that it appears to be a goner 'til 2010.
