Anyone ever use Fluid Film on firearms or outboard motors?

I just got a sample of this stuff from a heavy equipment dealer. He said that you can use it on anything. I used it on my sander as i got it ready for the snowy weather we have coming and i was impressed. I don't think it ate through the existing rust but it was almost like the existing rust was neutralized. Anyway on the bottle it says you can use it on firearms, fishing reel, outboard motors, wood, as a leather conditioner. I was wondering if anyone has and if they had any feed back on it. I did clean up some shot gun shells from sea ducking with it and was impressed it left a protective coating that water actually beads up on .

I have used Fluid Film before with similar results as you had. However, now when I am heading out to the salt waters, I use Howe's Lubricator Multi Purpose -- www.howeslube.com

It is a penetrating oil and will absolutely protect your gun from rust. I just spray it liberally on all metal parts the night before and maybe lightly wipe it down before hunting (but leaving a good coat on the gun). I have actually seen water freeze to the gun and all I had to do was brush it off with my finger. After the hunt, a good cleaning (OK, sometimes no cleaning whatsoever - just throw it in the corner) and it is good to go again.

I use it all around the house for other things, too. Everytime I smell it, I am reminded of some good hunts on the salt water. You can buy it at TA Truck Stops.
