April workbench

I hunt small lakes and places most people don't go. I'm set up like a roving gypsy ( pickup with canopy, tent, kayak, decoys etc. I go and scout. I use Google earth satellite photos and I hunt mainly during the week. Drives my son and daughter nuts cause they work full time. I take the entire month of September off and chase ducks, Geese, cranesView attachment 65898View attachment 65899

Its pretty awful actually. One day I hope to have that kind of time and be able to get that mad at em. This looks like the life to me, good for you sir to be doing that at your age!

After paddling back across that lake against the wind. My face was red and I was whooped. Kayaking is a butt kicker. I got a jon boat and trolling motor this winter. Quiet yet not as exhaust and it fits in my truck. Fits my run and gun style of hunting.

Ya ill be real honest, my yak is a lot of walk in style hunting, and its RARE I ever use an oar. I run the my mudrig as far in as I possibly can until I cant. Thats when I get to very walkable waters and I just load up the yak and walk it, put my spud poles down, set up the dog stand and hunt. If theres deep water, Im using a motor. I can get the dog, dog stand, 2 dozen decoys, splashers, my 2 spud poles, gun, box of shells and coffee in VERY easily. Its amazing how light and how easy it is to maneuver a kayak in just 6" of water with this kind of a load.
