There are a few with some big chunks taken out of them. I was thinking about fixing them and doing the same as Steve Sanford did to his. I dont know if they are worth anything the way they are.

Paul~

I am not sure if they are Bean's or not. Some of the heads - like the close-up of the Drake Mallard - look not quite right to my eye BUT - there were many different styles over the years. You might want to e-mail Dale Dalrymple at http://dalesdecoyden.com/ . I understand he is working on a book about them.

Merry Christmas!

I don't think those are Bean's, I remember looking at them in the catalogs since the late 60's and the heads had a very distinctive look, not like the ones in the pics.

They look like 50's Beans to me. I've got a lightweight Bean from the late 40's or very early 50's and the head is really similar if not identical.

Hank are they valuable or should I just fix and repaint them and use them?

I haven't the slightest clue... I am not a collector so I don't follow Bean prices. I hunt all of my Beans, including the lightweight, so they get resealed and repainted when needed.
Value will depend on if that paint is original. I've never seen an LL Bean decoy with the speculum painted. However, the one that Dale shows has a speculum painted similarly to yours. That hen in your picture is also unique and unlike any Bean hen I have ever seen. I saw it a few times on eBay and I assumed it was a repaint based on the tones of the paint. Maybe they are original, maybe they are Decoy Shop repaints, I know they did rehab work back then as well.

I'd contact Dale directly with some high quality pictures and ask him. I believe he is the "authority" on Bean blocks. Maybe even try LL Bean, they might employ someone that knows the history of their decoys.

they are ll beans saw 1 sell recently for 19.99 in good shape and original paint on ebay i thought they would sell for more
