arkansas hunting trip

leaving tomorrow for arkansas -- will hunt the st charles area mon-tue-weds

going with a group of 12 guys -- only one has been there before so it will be a new adventure for most of us

never hunted flooded timber before, and rice fields? haven't really done much puddle duck hunting so looking forward to shooting something other than a diver and being able to stand up rather than lay on my back and doing sit-ups to shoot -- although its a riot to do.

i hope to get some pictures to post although they won't be "hitch" quality

wish us luck!

we were in st charles, hunted the white river wildlife refuge, met some boys from GA but not WI

found out my waders leaked when i got in water over my knees -- which never happens here in MI -- first day i was wet from my crotch to my toes -- makes for an interesting 5 hours! LOL

soooooooo i went to stuttgart - to the temple of duck worship - and donated to their profits -- but did stay warm and DRY the rest of the hunt -- and whats a couple a hundred dollars when your trying to protect the family jewels -- LOL

hunting was slow -- not up to their usual standards -- even the guy at macs was complaining -- but it was the first time i hunted flooded timber and it was a blast watching the guide bring them down from waaaaayyyyy up there and see them fall cuped winged outta the sky right into the decoys

met the owner of RNL calls -- just recently had heart surgery so he didn't hunt with us -- but did share a few stories over the lunch table -- and dean watson called for us -- it was interesting listening to a champion caller -- left my calls there - didn't work like his!

nice to be back in michigan where today its -2* at home ---- yuk!

we took a few pictures but nothing most of you haven't seen a million times -- a few pintails - a couple of speckle bellies - mallards, teal

most of the pictures are of our guys hunting -- or rather standing and waiting

i do not have the photo skills of hitch or others -- no birds in flight or that kind of thing

didn't buy a call, since i layout 99% of the time i figured it would never get used -- therefore never practiced -- get put away somewhere never to be found again -- besides -- the new waders were enough of an unexpected expense!

macs was fun to see and walk around -- alot of nice stuff there for sure

i'd like to go back again but maybe a little eaarlier in the season
