Arkansas Timber Hunting Guides?

I will be looking to take a trip to hunt the Arkansas Timber in the next couple of years. The trip will be for my son and I and a good friend of mine. My good friend is in his 70s and this is a bucket list hunt for him. This is also a bucket hunt for me, but I am much younger and am really looking to start taking my son on different hunts every year or two.

Can anyone recommend a guide that is reputable? One that they have had personal experience with and would book again if they were looking to do a hunt in Arkansas again. What is the best time of year to book a hunt in this area? How far in advance should someone be looking to book a hunt in Arkansas?

Thank you for any and all recommendations and advice that you guys can offer on this subject.

Chad,
Green timber "ain't cheap", but it is one of those things that everyone should do. I don't know how much you were planning on spending, but it really does run the gamut from almost do-it-yourself to a 10,000 square foot lodge, meals, etc.
Honestly, plan a year ahead. The best places stay booked.
I don't know when you were planning on coming down during the season. We typically start the weekend before Thanksgiving and on a 60-day season run until the end of January. The first 10 days (basically through the Thanksgiving weekend) is what we call the "Stuttgart season"; it's the first split, almost always coinciding with the duck calling contest...we will have a short closure through the next week, and then open up in early December and run until somewhere around December 23rd/24th. Our season depends on cold weather and water; it may be 80 and dry on December 1, or it may be 35 degrees with every small river out of its banks. We always pray for snow and freezing temps from Winnipeg to Cape Girardeau, Missouri from Thanksgiving until February 1. I like hunting the last 30 days of the season (January, basically), but I wouldn't hesitate to go really any time after the first split.
Whatever lodge you work with should have a good idea of their peak times.
Shoot me an email at rhpierce@cebridge.net if you want to start talking.
