Arthur Anderson blinds for Broadbill & Blackjack

Greetings all-

Does anyone have photos or an original blind setup for the Arthur Anderson Broadbill or Blackjack boats?
I have tried searching for it here but my search results are too many.

I could use some dimensions to repair/recreate one.

Here are some pictures of what I am hoping to find. There were from a for sale posting that I came across and were on Photobucket.

I am most interested in the approximate dimensions of the blind in the 'up' position-that is distance from the floor to the top of the blind, the length of the fabric from the bar to where it snaps down to the deck.

If you have one and can take some additional photos, I would appreciate it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this setup and its practicality?

I have an arthur armstrong blackjack myself. I too have been thinking about this blind setup. I'm interested in seeing other peoples inputs.

Looks like its just you and me...

I am going to try mocking up a couple of fittings and conduit (gasp) to see what it looks like.

Does your boat have the bimini fitting on the deck? if so, where?

What are your thoughts on the rest?

My boat does have the fittings although mine is a 1999 built by Pheonix. I think the PO might have had a similar blind on it but I'm not sure. If the site will let me load the pics I will show you what my current setup looks like.
 
I made my blind like the ones on the roy shellinger low boat . Mount them with piano hinge on the cockpit and used 1/4 ply for the flaps . The broady and blacky are low profile boats you want to try to keep them that way . I think a blind like the pic,s show take away from the boats low profile and effectiveness . I will post some pic,s when it stops raining.

I couldnt agree more. please post some pics of your set up. Were at a loss with a blind for these boats that fits them and will be effective.
 
I think that flapper boards would be great. My only obstacle is that I'm 6'6" tall 250 lbs. the cockpit on the blackjack/broadbill is so wide that there is not much area between the cockpit and the gunnel of the boat. I wouldn't want to have the flapper boards stick out past the sides and I'm not sure if I could make them tall enough to conceal me otherwise. I'm interested in seeing pictures. My boat also does not have grassing rails so I would have to install them as well.

This is the same place we are at with them. Considered making them double flaps but want them to lay flat and thats tricky with the combing around the cockpit of these boats. Grass rails may indeed help with that as they could rest on the rails.
 
I sold my blackjack last year. But the guy I sold it too had a great way of doing the boards. He used the wire shelving from homedepot. He said paint the shelving then install eye straps over the shelves. Can eithe make boat layout style or low profile blind. Then just add grass

I would bet total height from inside of boat to top of blind is same or smaller with scissors type over boards.

As pointed out, we have little deck from gunnel to cockpit, so you end up with very small boards.

If you use boards and piano hinge, you can't use your cover either.

Guy I hunt with is 6'4". I am 6'.

Light weight is key too- I want to be mobile; drop it and go, full throttle.
 
I have never put a blind on my AA broadbill but it looks like flyway specialties has a blind for them. I actually like a little more room if I hunt with someone else. John

More great points. There has to be a way to do this. My thoughts on this were to find one of the oversized field blinds and somehow mount it to the boat as it fits really really close to the cockpit opening. Wheni have more spare time I plan to try to work on this issue. I have a black jack sitting here now with just a dodger on the front.
 
Total height from floor to top is almost 30'' very light weight and very fast to use. Sounds like the height you need is not going to work for you on that type of boat .
