Ash borer,,,,, added some hunting photos

Yeah sucks, we started 15 years ago. Nice for keeping yourself in firewood, tho. We still have some standing dead to cut for firewood that just went last year or two, but that is damn near the end of our ash.

That is about a weeks worth of bowl turning wood for ya. Good you bought that bigger lathe.

Bob, Tod,

You guys are killing me! I do have a fireplace in the basement. I even put it in myself when I had more energy than brains. Who ever thought lugging firewood down a set of inside stairs would be fun,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, was an idiot!

I even have a full size pool table with a 1 inch slate surface in my basement. That item will never see daylight again, at least not by my hands.

I will admit that my family enjoyed our meager amenities and the basement rec-room, was a place where my daughters could have their boyfriends over. With just the appropriate balance of privacy and supervision. [;)]

No this time I hired out the job of taking the tree down and major clean up. I did have a medium size Cedar tree taken down as well. Some of that wood I saved to see what I can do with it, who knows.

Morning Dave---
I have to admit that I began salivating when I saw that ash tree of yours. Of all the things I did when I was healthy and younger, I enjoyed cutting firewood about as much as I love duck hunting. We planted an Arizona ash tree for shade at our dog kennel which is north of the house about 150 feet away; We have been fortunate that it is still healthy.

Good luck with your clean up work.
Al

Ash is fun to work. I expect to see some bowls, maybe a baseball bat, tables, chairs and maybe even some wagon wheels. You better get busy.

In all seriousness, another non-native introduced pest destroying native species. Hope the ash trees don?t go the way of chestnuts, elms, etc.

You guys are a tough crowd today.

Bowls, firewood, chairs, baseball bats, more firewood, push oars,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Show up next time with a few tools and you can do all that! hah [w00t]

Dave,
Don't let our Forum Buddies interfere with your main occupation of being retired. The next thing you SJS will suggest you build an ash sneakbox for him since you are so "ash blessed."

Damn. But isn't it sad to see the ash forest dwindle and dwindle. Such great trees.

Be well,
Larry

If you take those ash logs and cut them up, you could make a carving board big enough to carve that Thanksgiving goose.
Just sayin'......

Dave, I can tell you listened well to a friend of yours who has been retired for a while. There is no doubt about it, you are having fun!
