Asian carp ndr

Really?!?! As much fun as that might seem to me at first glance there is no way I'd go near anyplace that had a season like that. Since you have to run over them with a boat and are always moving I can see people losing track of where they are between shots. I'd stick with a bow I think.
It's surprising to me that it is IL that is considering this.

Good way to stink up the edges of the rivers too. I'm all for killing carp just wish they would all take them with at the end of the day.

I'm thinking this is NOT one of their better ideas. I read this is restricted to the Illinois River.

Why do they need shotguns when those guys are on the patrol?

WOW!!! Those guys are insane! Future Darwin award winners???

Oh great what about those of us that want to use our AR-15s? I smell discrimination!?!?!?

Nice point Todd! Sure don't sound like the safest thing in the world. Is this steel shot only? What about an angled shot and the shot glances off the surface of the water. I would hate to be downwind of this situation.

In my mind, I'm picturing a Mad Max 'esque duck boat with some sort of waist high cage in the bow for the gunner to stand, and a hefty screen around the driver of the boat is in the stern steering with a tiller. The gunner has no plug in his gun and possibly an extended magazine. Steel shot, no bigger than 6's, an extended magazine, cylinder choke, and a bag limit of 25 a day, but you have to take them home, no leaving the fish to float down the river.

I am so in....

I like that idea John. The other thing they could do for safety reasons is to have a daily draw. Only one gunning boat on a specified stretch of the river at a time. The hard part is picking up the dead and dying since I doubt many of them will be floating, yeck when I get a pull out with a fish arrow the fish just swims away. Sounds like fun.

I've walleye fished that river ' and when you run into a school of them it's nut's . Theirs hundreds of them flying everywhere . It's something to see' broken windshield ' rods busted' spilled tackle boxes' hit in the head . After a day on water there I could do a 12gauge .

Mark,

And to think Blagobitch is headed for Camp Cupcake in Colorado. Seems the Illinois School of Governing Officals could use a new teacher doesn't it? I do feel sorry for you guys in Colorado but my tax dollars have been paying for another fine Illinois government figure long enough in ex Gov. Ryan and his croonies!

Ed, I hate to tell you this, but you PAY the other state to take them, they don't take them for free.

In WI, we ship low level security prisoners down south, yet take their HIGH security for increased revenue...how stupid is that.

As to shooting carp...been doing it since I was a kid with a 22 on the shore line when the carp would spawn in the shallows and roll...but in a moving boat....ugh, ah, no thanks. Althought John Bourbon seems to have the right idea!!

Eric,

Thanks for the info. Not five minutes ago I read an article stating the same thing. I thought my dad had told me that years ago when another fine Illinois Gov. Otto Kerner was convicted, i think of bank fraud but couldn't remember for sure.

BTW....growning up on the river as a kid provided lots of things to shoot at from the bank. Many I would have gotten my a$$ beat for when I was a kid if my dad would have caught me. I overheard some guys down in the shop getting all hyped up about this. These are the guys that scare me to death. If they open up the Mississippi river I just want to know where on the water they're going to be. My house is only 100 feet from the water.

I really doubt this will pass anyway. Afterall we are talking about Illinois. Home of the FOID card!
