Atlantic Migration report featuring one of our members.

I hate to say it but a guide who depends on "good numbers" is going to say "good numbers" no matter what. Anyone who hunted the Maine coast in the 80's and 90's knows sea ducks are a dismal state and guides are the only ones with enough time to find a dozen birds here or 50 birds there to get their sports their prize. Took me 3 years to get my son his first Eider after hunting the 90's where we would kill five 7 bird limits in under 30 minutes. Ate what I shot and only shot 2 limits a year. Knew it wasn't sustainable back then and surprise...it's not. Shut it down.

Shut down guiding. Noone should make money from shooting waterfowl, especially seaducks in open water. The population of eiders or scoters can't support being pounded to the tune of six-nine birds every day, from one boat, for 60 days or more in support of commercial interests. We as sportsmen like to point out the money we spend on waterfowl hunting. Paying to be a shooter for a day doesn't compare to buying the gear (boat, decoys etc.) to be a hunter.
