atlantic salmon..

Beautiful fish...well done!

What fly, if I may be so rude? Does it go into a special box now, since it's a proven fly?

Congratulations again...would love to find a taking fish like that.

Hello Rick, on what I call a stoats tail tube. A silver and blue with some red on it on a double hook. I gave the fly to my mate as a good luck charm because he has never caught a salmon so it's in pride of place in his fly box.

Nice salmon mate! On the 2 hander no less! Keep swinging!
June 6 and I'll be heading back to AK for some Pacific salmon!

All the best-

Nice fish! We can't fish for Atlantic salmon in Maine anymore, and I've never fished for sea-run Atlantics. I didn't chase salmon when I was a kid and numbers were good, and when I came back to Maine it just didn't feel right sticking a hook into one of the last few salmon that return in the US.

Numbers in Maine were up a bit the past two years, and I hope to able to fish the Penobscot for salmon before I die.

Your runs must be a lot earlier than ours. This time of year a few black salmon (post-spawned fish from last year) may be caught, but we don't see fresh fish until May or even June.
