August: What's falling off you workbench?

I did an impromptu durability test on a life-size, pine Canada goose decoy I was working on yesterday. I was sealing it and it slipped out of my hands and hit the concrete floor. It happened so fast I didn't know what happened. There was a pretty good THWACK! when it hit. I braced for the worst when I picked it up. There isn't a scratch on it. I think it must have hit on the tip of the bill as the tip has epoxy on it for wear resistance.

It was a miracle that it wasn't damage or even broken beyond repair. I was actually listening to the Book of Proverbs on CD at the time. So, it may actually have been a miracle.

Andy,

I was painting a pintail when I heard a "pop" sound - that was the hot glue breaking loose on the handle. Well, that decoy now has a flat spot on top of its head. If the bill hit first, that bird would've been firewood. Sometimes good things happen to good people:)

Yep! Kamikaze decoys, always trying commit sewyside! I had a Mallard that was intent on ending it's short life. Just broke the bill, epoxied it back on and painted it up. Glad your goose made it out alive, must be all that clean livin'!

I was trouble shooting some problems I'm having w/ a small outboard yesterday and heard a small metal on metal noice around my feet. Some how a small spring and plastic cap shot off my work bench. I found the spring but never found the plastic peice. Have to order some parts now. I dont think it will help the original problem though. Luke
