August - Whats on your workbench?

I had the collars from my long gone Labs hanging on a nail. I felt they needed something a little better.

We have a dog wall of fame in the clubhouse where old dog pics are displayed. I think that this will be the centerpiece.

This pics below aren't really workbench projects but it's what I've been up to lately.

Got the bathroom in the new workshop mostly done. Some finish trim to come at a later date. Thomas thinks it would make a good deer shooting house. I'm just happy to no longer go down the road...

Just today I finished getting the wood ready for the wall that separates the shop from the garage. Now I get to hang these 16' boards. Going to need another pair of hands for this job

Good morning, Eric~

Shop looks great! I am excited for your progress. Those old bleacher seats sure clean up nicely.

I could not help but notice the similarities with my friend/neighbor's shop down the road from me. He, too, has the high ceilings, shapers with power feeds, big dust collection and....lots of big speakers! My shop has a little portable radio and at least 5 pairs of hearing protectors hanging all around.

All the best,

SJS

Steve

Thanks. Progress will slow to a crawl since the kids go back to school this week. I love having music on while I work in the shop but keep a drawer full of ear plugs and stuff them in my ears whenever I turn on the planer or other noisy machines.

Eric

Here are a few I just finished up. GWT and woodie are white pine and oil. Squaw is white pine and acrylic. Hooded is canvas and acrylic.

Those are all sweet birds!

Here's another non-floater:

This is a scrap pine mock-up for a pair of grabrails for Red Oster's Commanding Mistress - the 34-footer featured in When the Broadbill was King on Great South Bay. They will mount level, either side of the companionway.

I hope to dry fit it this week - headed for LI tomorrow - before I make the real ones from 5/4 Mahogany.

All the best,

SJS

Steve, Always like your DucHandles. The flyers last month were right up there also. Neat twist to the art of decoys.

Eric, Shop looks great. Must be nice to be coming down the home stretch.

Summer is always shorebird time a couple off the bench.

This month is shaping up to be awesome already with all the great work posted in just the first couple days!

I sat down for another snipe painting "test" session. A few more changes to make but I think I may tackle them on the full body I have carved and waiting for clothes.

Home stretch? I wish! I have years of work ahead of me to get it the way I want it. Walls, insulation, workbenches, storage, etc.. Not in a hurry thought. Too many things that can't wait while the shop can. I just work on it when I can, like now, I'm headed that way this evening.

Obviating the need for BIG speakers,Eric!!! Very nice progress on project you have put much effort into!

Eric, your shop looks good. been watching the progress. Yeah its nice to have that thinking spot close to the work!

Dave nice work on the snipe. Like the paint, almost makes up for that 16p in its head!

Here's a pintail in progress.
